Pre-primary to Year 6

Kensington Primary School is designated as a Local Intake School. The school has places for students in Pre-primary – Year 6 who reside within the boundaries of the Local Intake Area as have been determined by the Department of Education. Kindergarten

Enrolment of children in kindergarten is based on priority given in the following order.:

  1. First priority – A child residing in the local intake area for the school, with a sibling enrolled at the same school for that year, and who lives the nearest to the school.
  2. Second priority – A child residing in the local-intake area for the school, who does not have a sibling enrolled at the same school for that year, and lives the nearest to the school.
  3. Third priority – A child residing outside the local-intake area for the school, has a sibling enrolled at the same school for that year, and who lives the nearest to the school.
  4. Fourth priority – A child residing outside the local-intake area for the school, does not have a sibling enrolled at the same school for that year, and who lives nearest to the school.

For those who live outside of the local intake area, enrolment in Kindergarten does not guarantee enrolment in Pre-primary and beyond.

Enrolment Process

An enrolment form is completed by a parent or guardian for each child attending Kensington Primary.

A birth certificate, Australian citizenship or visa grant papers if applicable (please note that if the child was born in Australia but both parents were born overseas, Australian citizenship or an acceptable visa must be provided) and an AIR (Australian Immunisation Record, available from your my.gov account) dated within two months of the time of enrolment must be sighted during the enrolment process. Students will be placed in the year of study corresponding to their age group.

Evidence of proof of residency within the local intake area must be provided at the time of enrolment. This must include the most recent utilities bill (gas, water or electricity) proving the applicant is residing at the address, as well as a rates notice/lease agreement.
